Ash windowsills

Interior windowsills made of solid ash. Light colour, decorative grain, made to measure.

Windowsills made of solid ash

Windowsills made of solid ash wood stand out with their light colour and decorative grain, which gives interiors a bright, Scandinavian feel. Ash is a hard and flexible timber — an ideal material for interior windowsills that combine durability with natural beauty.

At EnterAndGo you will find ash windowsills made to measure from carefully selected timber. Every windowsill has its own pronounced, unique grain that underlines the natural character of ash.

Why ash

Why choose ash windowsills?

Light colour

The creamy white tone of ash brightens interiors and gives them a light, modern character.

Hard and flexible

Ash is one of the hardest European timbers and is springy at the same time — it takes everyday use well.

Decorative grain

The pronounced growth ring pattern of ash makes every windowsill unique and eye-catching.

Ash windowsills with a straight edge

A straight edge is the most common choice for windowsills. The board ends in an even line, with no profiling or ornament, so the windowsill never clashes with the window joinery or the style of the room. The wood does all the work here: the light colour of ash and its pronounced grain.

  • A straight, even edge along the whole length
  • A light palette that brightens the room
  • Every windowsill has its own grain pattern
  • Fits any window joinery and interior style

Ash or oak — which windowsill to choose?

Both species work perfectly as a material for interior windowsills. The choice comes down to the style of the interior and your own colour preferences.

  • Ash: light, creamy colour — ideal for bright and Scandinavian interiors
  • Oak: warm, honey shade — the classic choice for traditional interiors
  • Ash has a more pronounced, decorative grain
  • Both species are equally hard and durable

Frequently asked questions

Ash windowsills are best treated with wood oil or wax every 6-12 months. Ash is light in colour, so it pays to use a clear or slightly whitening oil that brings out the natural tone of the wood and protects it against discolouration.

Every ash windowsill is made individually to measure — we adjust the length, width and thickness to your window. The standard thickness is 30-40 mm, but other dimensions are possible too. We make both straight edge and natural (live edge) windowsills.

Ash has a lighter, creamy white colour and a more decorative, pronounced grain than oak. It is just as hard and durable, but its light tone works better in Scandinavian and modern interiors. Oak, in turn, has a warmer, honey shade and is slightly more resistant to moisture.

Yes, ash works very well as a material for interior windowsills. Ash wood is hard (on a par with oak), flexible and resistant to scratches. Once treated with oil or wax it is durable and easy to look after.
